Interview with Mina Wali

What made you join the mission of developing a HOM- Afghanistan?

Having been raised by a father who has made history in the presence of Afghanistan as the first Commanding Jet Fighter of the Meg 21 and Direct Guard and Advisor to our prior monarchy of King Zahir Shaw, there comes to be a lot to live up to and for. My father was takin alive by the communist regime that invaded Afghanistan in the 70s and never saw or heard about is life or death again. His spirit fuels my hunger and keeps me running strong. His last request to my younger brothers and myself was to never turn our backs on our nation, I promised, and I enjoy it very much”.What has been so the most rewarding moment for you since your return to Afghanistan?

“ The grand opening of the SPAE- Shawl Patcha Academy of Education. Actually the day we broke ground on construction for it. Being able to open an institution for the children and have young women attend school in an area that has never before offered such a service to young women, seeing the faces of the children, the eyes of thetribal leaders-elders, the unification of the community, it was beautiful. I saw hope, and the people saw change. It was a huge stepping stone towards a better new future.

Tareq Shawl Azim- Vice President/Co-Founder

The oldest son of Mina Wali. He was born as a refugee in Munich, Germany and raised in San Francisco, California. But he never knew his true home until the day he returned to Afghanistan. After graduating from Fresno State University in May 2004, Tareq, like many recent grads, set out to travel the world.  However, his journey began after the destination: Afghanistan. With a Degree in Environmental Sciences and an extensive Athletic Career, both as a collegiate and professional athlete, Tareq arrived uniquely qualified to inspire the strength of people. His experience in Afghanistan became  turning point in his life. Tareq is very clear in his goal: HOM will help change the world for the better. What attracted you to join the mission of developing HOM-Afghanistan?

“Legacy, growing up in a household and members of my family being very consistent in always making sure that knowing who we represent and why, was in our minds. I saw it as a
blessing and honor being the grandson of very noble grandfathers. They have been my heroes my entire life and my judgment on things always consist on what they would do in my situation. Carrying confidence and being able to display through actions of empowerment for youth and general public are what they did quite well in their ways, now it’s time for me to present it through my available channels. Living for the reasons and knowing your purpose in this world was by far the most satisfying feeling I have come across. My reason and purpose being, trying my best to make life easier or better for the next person.  It is unfortunate that there are several places in the world, In need of help and aid, but my calling and fit is Afghanistan… For now!”
What has been the most rewarding moment for you since the establishment of HOM?

“There are several moments I would consider the best and most rewarding. But one was After planning to launch the Afghan Womens Boxing Federation I was told on several occasions from so many different sources that there is no possible way people will allow me to do such a thing, and I would not have any girls even interested, but after one simple movement of COMMUNICATION (which I believe lacks… bigtime) there were more supporters than I could imagine. To where the people who were assumed to stop me, brought there daughters to join my team. Since then we have a solid team and have created a national team to represent the entire nation.”

Ahmad Shaw M.- Country Director –Vice President
The father of 3 lovely children and a big reason why Afghanistan is a free country today, Ahmad Shaw was a very young man at the Age of 16 when he started his defending stages of Afghanistan’s peace and freedom. A highly respected commander in the Jihad against the soviets, Ahmad Shaw played a vital role in the collapse of Communism. His Intensions to set foot in the war were like many other Freedom Fighters, “peace for the children”. A. Shaw immediately acted on making the world a better place by jumping into creating a strong network throughout the country to one day introduce Hope of Mother on a national level. A. Shaw has been the driving force in securing the HOM mission due to his loyalty and commitment to Afghanistan and its people. The introduction and creation of all projects have been advised and under the direction of Mr. Shaw. He is a very important figure in the peace and unity of Afghanistan’s future and Hope of Mother and the Azim family are very blessed for his presence. Some say “A. Shaw should be the President of Afghanistan”
